The film “Another World” portrays nurses and patients in a woman yard of a forensic psychiatry. In this institution people are locked in, who are considered to be dangerous for the society and from which the society has to be protected.

The film gives a very close look to the daily life of the institution, which is dominated by rules and observation. It portrays the relatienship between the patients and the nurses, who bear responsibility everyday, who lock and un-lock the cells, who take care of a proper daily routine and have a lot of power in doing this. The film focuses on the issue of power, which both groups – nurses, but also patients have. Visualising the permanent controll in this setting, the film uses video-takes oft the institution’s surveillance camera, which observes the area all the time, also filming the camera-team, while they are filming the institution. Women under surveillance – in a very complex way.
